    How it started...

Some challenges lead to something new. Like in the lockdown of 2020, when high-quality beer from the Airbräu brewery at Munich Airport suddenly remained unused. Brewmaster René Jacobsen decided that this beer had to be preserved.

Together with regional partners and distilleries, 4,000 liters of light Airbräu beer and 1,300 liters of Aviator strong beer were used to create three unique beer brandies: Infused, Oaked and Pure.

Each brandy was produced using its own process to make diversity tangible.
The result is a limited edition that embodies origin, quality and lived sustainability.

4,000 liters of fine Airbräu beer were distilled in the Huber fine fruit distillery in the style of gin and refined with selected botanicals.

Bottled with care, the Infused beer brandy was created – a limited fine brandy, available in 500 ml bottles.

Perfect for at home or as an exclusive souvenir from Munich.

In addition to the light Airbräu beer, there were also 1,300 liters of Aviator strong beer in the tanks of the Airbräu brewery. 500 liters of this were distilled five times and stored in Schwangau for 28 months to mature, in order to create a unique and intense taste. Thanks to the long maturation period and the repeated distillation of the beer, this beer brandy has an unmistakable character.
800 liters of the Oaked brandy were distilled in Schwangau and then matured for 28 months in a French oak barrel that previously contained bourbon. The barrel was stored on the Tegelberg, at an altitude of 1,700 meters, with a view of Neuschwanstein Castle. The harsh mountain climate gave this beer brandy its intense, unmistakable taste. A true rarity, shaped by nature and time.

    Gin made from beer.
    Is that allowed?

No! Or yes - you just can't call it "Gin"! Because they have one thing in common: the best wheat and pure water. But in order to save 5,300 liters of Airbräu beer from destruction during the lockdown, refinement in the style of gin is legitimate. This is how something fine and new was created: the beer brandies from Mountain Hub Distillers.
